Curing time
The curing times shown are typical but may be affected by catalyst, promoter and inhibitor concentrations and resin. Variations in curing characteristics can be expected between different catalyst and at extremely high humidities.
Pigments and fillers can retard or accelerate product activation. It is recommended that the roofer check the curing characteristics of a small quantity of Fibrelast base resin under actual operating conditions prior to use. For more information talk to one of technical services team before purchase.

Application
The major advantage of Fibrelast is the products versatility, which allows the system to be used in a number of different scenarios.
While providing the perfect foundations for a solar or green roof, the cold-applied GRP roofing system is a perfect choice for flat roofs, balconies or walkways and can even be used to replicate the appearance of lead.

Thermal expansion
Fibrelast will withstand normal building movement and thermal expansion and contraction without the need for Fibretrim expansion joints on surfaces up to 100 m2. Expansion joints my be required on warm roofs over 100 m2 and specifications will need to be approved by an Allbase technical services representative or approved contractor before work starts.
Movement in roofs is mainly caused by thermal expansion and contraction of the roof structure or insulation. Thermal expansion occurs when your roof heats up and cools down from increases in temperature or changes in weather conditions. These movements must be taken into account and allowed for in the design of the roof or premature failure could occur.
To combat the effects of thermal expansion and contraction, our engineering team developed eFlex, a technology that enhances the product’s flexibility without adding any after-market additives which can lead to problems in the life cycle of a roof membrane.
Substrates
Fibrelast must be applied to a quality Allbase approved plywood. Oriented strand board (OSB), also known as sterling board, sterling OSB and smartply is a specially engineered wood particle board that’s created by adding adhesives and then compressing layers of wood strands in specific orientations.
OSB3 has been designed specifically for demanding roofing applications including flat and pitched roofs in both cold and warm configurations along with roof cassettes and dormer windows. The boards are available to purchase in various configurations but we recommend the 18mm 8×2 board with tongue & groove profiled edges.
Foot traffic
The Fibrelast GRP Roofing system is available with non-slip finishes for walkways and heavy foot traffic. A Non-slip finish should be specified for high traffic areas and provides perfect protection for normal use on terraces, balconies and walkways. While the surface finish in anti-slip it will not eliminate the risk of slipping, particularly in winter conditions where ice has formed.
