Q:

How long does a fibreglass roof last?

From Mollie Adams

Hello,

Can you tell me how long a fibreglass roof will last for? The garage roof we have at the moment is made from felt and has lasted us a number of years, although we’ve had it patched a few times it’s time to invest in a new roof. We have been looking at a number of different options from getting it re-felted to EPDM and now fibreglass.

A:

Hi Mollie,

Due to its strength and durability fibreglass roofing can last for at least 30 years with no physical deterioration. The system however, is only as good as the surface it’s being applied to and the person doing the application, so make sure you spend some time on preparation if you’re a DIY’er or find a contractor who knows what he’s doing.

Check out our buyers guide and online application guide if you want to do the roof yourself, alternatively get one of our approved contractors to visit for a free survey and no-obligation quotation.

Hope this helps, if you have any more questions please give us a call.
